London is one of the most popular destination for Christmas and we have come up with a list of the 6 most popular things to do in the British capital during this festive season.

1. Skating by night in Somerset House, whilst listening music. The ice rink is opened from 9:00 to 23:30 at night and tickets start from £7.50 GBP. Other ice rinks not to be missed in the capital are the open-air Eye skate-rink situated next to the London Eye and the Natural History Museum one.

2. Watch a Pantomime. Britain is traditionally viewed as a homeland of pantomime, that comes in many genres including fairy tale, stage musicals, stand-up comedy and, of course,    Vaudeville. Some not to be missed are Peter Pan, Aladdin or Cinderella shows.

 3. Visit Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. This park it’s marvelous in summer, but during the winter months it’s even more charming and fascinating. During Christmas, you will find Winter Wonderland a Christmas market and fair including observation wheel, rides, ice rink and fascinating shows. Winter Wonderland is available every day from 10 am to 10 pm.

 4. Listening Carols. Christmas is incomplete without carols, so you cannot miss the opportunity to visit and enjoy carol singing in Spitalfields Winter Festival, St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church near Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey or St. Pauls’ Cathedral.

 5. Shopping downtown, whilst observing the Festive Lights. If you want to enjoy Festive Lights, head to Oxford Street and Regent Street, the two most illuminated streets in the city. Not very far from them, you will find the traditional Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square, a present that Norway traditionally gives to the UK every year.

6. Eat mince pies while drinking mulled wine, a warm red wine mixed with various mulling spices and raisins perfect for cold weather and served with Mince Pies, small fruit-based sweet pies traditionally eaten during the Christmas season. Its ingredients are traceable to the 13th century, when returning European crusaders brought with them Middle Eastern recipes containing meats, fruits and spices.
