Hotel Villa Real 5*
Ihre Meinung ist uns wichtig
Excellent location near the Thyssen and Prado, next to Four Seasons. Excellent restaurant: foie gras with sherry reduction, perfectly seasoned with kosher salt; veal filet, again perfectly seasoned.
Decent, but small wine list. Good service.
My husband and I stayed at the Villa Real for some days. We were most impressed by the staff and their welcoming and cheerful demeanor. They were willing to help and also the manager let us check in early as our flight had arrived in the wee hours of the morning. The room we stayed in was spacious and it was nice to have a couch area and a bed. The one downside was one night we could hear the people next door having some loud intimate moments. One thing I loved about this room was the bath salts and the oil! There was nothing better that a hot aromatic soak after a long day of seeing the sights or a cold evening outside!
The location of the hotel is very strategic to getting out and about, good restaurants as well as sight seeing.
Just completed a 2 night stay at Hotel Villa Real. The purpose of the trip was business but extended with a day so I can see a couple of museums. The hotel is perfectly situated for that.
Check in service was fast and efficient and the concierge who also showed me to the room was very informative. My room was overlooking the square in front and has a nice and modern LCD TV. The furniture is okay but worn out, in fact the whole decoration is worn out or out of date which leads to the confusion if this is really a 5 star hotel. The rooms although not large are good size, bathroom a bit small but well equipped and clean.
Bed is comfortable and i had a good sleep but the bed legs were making incredible noice everytime i made the slightlest movement. The wooden flooring needs maintenance. The big turn off was the mini bar which is hidden in the wardrobe and if you want to use it you have to ask for a key from the reception, yes the room mini star in a 5 star hotel is locked! I seldom consume anything from the minibar but don't liek the idea of locked minibar. There are a few other flaws but enough about it.
On the positive side, most of the staff was very nice and the ladies at the reception were very charming too. Breakfast was mainly cold cuts with egss of a choice prepared in the kitchen. Not abundant but just perfect selection of food. The staff at the breakfast was also polite and attentive.
With the check-in there is a compimentary glass of champagne (rather sparkling wine) at the bar which is also thoughtful.
Internet is free which is excellent and the speed is not that bad.
This is my second stay at Hotel Villa Real and it was good to be back. The Hotel is always clean, confortable and it's location is great for a visit to Madrid. You can walk to the best Museums, El Retiro Park, the Puerta del Sol and many other great places to visit. The staff is helpful and accomodating with our needs. I would stay at the Villa Real again if I have the opportunity.
