Derby Hotels Collections, patron of the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona
First of all, welcome to our hotel, where I hope you will feel perfectly at home or at least you remember it that way when you are no longer with us.
I would like you to know that you are staying in a hotel owned by a company that allocates part of its profits to patronage of the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona, which has won a number of national and international awards and distinctions.
The Egyptian Museum of Barcelona/Clos Archaeological Foundation is a non-profit-making organisation that aims to make known ancient cultures, particularly to bring ancient culture, especially the Egypt of the Pharaohs, to modern society. The Museum houses a collection of over 1,100 items and handles its own management without public funding through numerous programmes of social importance: temporary exhibitions, guided visits, children's workshops, Egyptology courses for teenagers and adults that enhance Barcelona's cultural offer.
Of particular importance are:
1. An educational scholarship programme that allows schoolchildren without means to go on the guided tours for free, managed by the Barcelona Municipal Institute for Education.
2. Archaeological digs and restoration work on the Kom al-Ahmar/Sharuna necropolis in Middle Egypt. A project which aids the recovery of an archaeological area affected by the indiscriminate pillaging of its cultural wealth.
At Derby Hotels Collection we are proud to be a part of a project with such great social impact both in Spain and abroad, and we would like to invite you to share in what we do.
When you stay with Derby Hotels Collection you become a patron of culture along with us, and we would like to thank you by inviting you to see for yourself just what your contribution makes possible.
