Egyptian Museum of Barcelona

Egyptian Museum of Barcelona

Jordi Clos, Chairman and the man behind Derby Hotels Collection, has always balanced his professional life with following one of his great passions: art and ancient cultures. For this reason all the company's hotels contain impressive art collections inside and outside the guest rooms, giving each hotel its own unique character.

Highly influenced by a passion for art, Derby Hotels Collection offers guests an exclusive experience in the broadest sense: location in the city, architectural impact and creation of luxury surroundings through the exhibiting of authentic works of art. All combined with a desire to provide maximum comfort and wellbeing.

This passion for art, particularly Ancient Egypt, culminated in 1994 with the building of the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona/Clos Archaeological Foundation, an amenity of great cultural value that helps promote the city of Barcelona and houses Europe's most important private collection of Egyptian art open to the public, comprising more than 1,100 pieces and distinguished with numerous national and international awards.

The Egyptian Museum of Barcelona handles its own management by generating its own resources, without public funding, thanks to the activities it organises and the support of companies like Derby Hotels Collection that believe that a society's wealth lies in its cultural assets.
