Hotel Banke is a design hotel, a work of art in and of itself.

  • The Hotel Banke building with its magnificent facade dates to the beginning of the 20th century, and it was one of the first to be built on Rue Pillet Will. The work of architects Paul Friesse and Cassien Bernard, it was formerly home to an important bank. The spacious lobby, closed off by a crystal dome installed 19 metres from the floor, retains the old counters from the bank around a large mosaic; at present the hotel's bar and restaurant are found behind them.
  • As a nod to passion for Egyptian art, an Eye of Horus, embedded in the floor of the entrance porch, underlines the idea of wholeness and integrity that it symbolizes.
  • Display cases on each floor of Hotel Banke show a striking collection of treasures from different continents and civilisations: Egyptian, African, Pre-Colombian, Roman and Buddhist, among others.
  • The RINO sculpture holds sway over the Hotel Banke lobby. The work of international Artist dEmo, it is a unique piece, 275 centimetres tall, designed exclusively for Derby Hotels Collection.
