February 2015 A TRULY WONDERFUL HOTEL

We stayed here pre cruise for 2 nights, the restoration of the hotel is just beautiful and I will not stay anywhere else in Barcelona after staying here. We cruise regularly from Barcelona and have stayed in other 4/5 star hotels and know the area, this is the first time we were completely happy with our choice.
The staff were helpful and friendly, the location is very central and within easy walking distance of the gothic quarter, Maremagnum shopping centre, port ,restaurants etc...
The hotel was clean, modern and welcoming whilst the old character of the building has been retained with much loving tender care which I found both refreshing and atmospheric, compared to the new expensive hotels like the W and The Grand Marina at the port.
Our Family room was spacious with balconies and a kitchen (inc. fridge) and a beautiful bathroom with large multi function shower and was immaculately cleaned.
We had a wonderful stay and I would like to express my gracious thanks to the guy on reception. Thank you

February 2015 Simply perfect!

The Location in the Gothic Quarter is perfect. You are far enough from the traffic on the Rambla and near enough to feel the wonderful soul of Barcelona. You can find plenty of little bars, cafes and restaurants nearby.
The Hotel and the Rooms are perfect: beautiful, exclusive, well designed, full equipped, quiet and clean. It's a special style, that combines modern and historic elements in a perfect way. The rooms are big and have also a small kitchen, where you can find anything you need. The fridge is equipped with all you need, like a maxi-bar ;-) but you can also buy something in the supermarket and store it there, e.g. water, wine or fruits. It also offers a a small espresso-machine.
You can choose to have your breakfast in the room, where you also have a table and chairs, or you can go to one of the cafes nearby and sit outside on a beautiful place. The aircondition is adjustable or you can even turn it off. The rooms are quiet and you can sleep wonderful in the beds. The bathroom is also very good equipped, with daylight and a nice rainshower.
On the roof you can find a pool for a little refreshment after a hot city day. The staff is also perfect. They are very kind, helpful and offer an excellent service. They take care of you everywhere without beeing pushy. So you really feel comfortable.
Overall a wonderful place to be in Barcelona!

February 2015 Contemporary hotel in Gothic quarter

We were travelling with our two teenage sons and mother - in- law and spent two nights at the Aparthotel Arai prior to boarding our cruise ship. We found the Aparthotel Arai to be very well-located in the Gothic Quarter, an easy walking distance from La Rambla and other major attractions in the area. The hotel features modern amenities, beautiful styling and friendly staff. The hotel is quiet despite the bustling nightlife just outside its doors and is only steps from many restaurants and cafes. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. I had been worried that due to its contemporary nature that the hotel would not be comfortable or family-friendly, but was wrong on both accounts. Although we didn't use it, the small kitchenette would have allowed for some meals in the room. Surprised to see the rooms even equipped with a Nespresso expresso machine! The pool is small, but was sufficient for a quick cool off after a hot day of sight- seeing. The hotel was quite expensive, but comparable with other hotels in the area.

February 2015 Beautiful Hotel, Great Location

This hotel is very well located in Barrio Gotico. It is close to all the main attractions in the area. The hotel itself has beautiful finishes. Everything was very modern, yet it had a very comfortable and antique feel. Our room had very high ceilings and tall windows with a Juliette balcony, and although the windows faced the street, they did a good job keeping the noise out. There was a little kitchenette with a huge refrigerator and stove. The staff is very thoughtful, friendly and helpful. They add very nice touches, such as leaving a fresh red rose on the night stand when we arrived. Overall a great experience!
