Rare and unseen art pieces exhibited in Barcelona’s new and latest museumAuthor: Derby Hotels Collection
London, January 21st 2015 – This is the chance to see previously unseen pieces of art from non-Western collections. The Museum of World Cultures, which opens in Barcelona February 7th, will put on display more than 2.300 items from four world continents.
The Museum aims to provide pieces of art from four world continents – Asia, Africa, America and Oceania. Cultures from all over the world, from New Guinea and the Pacific Islands to the Olmec and Maya will be represented. In the African section, there’ll be a special exhibition dedicated to Fang culture.
The Pre Columbian pieces are one of the major pieces being exhibited. Shaft tombs pottery from Mexico’s Colima and Jalisco states or burial dowries from Veracruz or Teotihuacan are some of the must see pieces, which were loaned by Jordi Clos’ Archaeological Foundation and private collection.
Jordi Clos is an art collector, a scholar and sponsor of art and culture –he has the largest private collection of Egyptian art in Europe- but also, he is a hotel lover. He is the president of Derby Hotels Collection, a collection of hotels mixing comfort, luxury and culture. In most of the guest rooms you will find original pieces of art exhibited.
