On 23 April, established by UNESCO as World Book and Copyright Day, Catalonia also remembers the medieval legend of Sant Jordi (Saint George), a young knight who saved a princess from a ferocious dragon. Every year, an increasing number of cities are inundated with books and roses, which modern-day knights and princesses exchange as symbols of love and prosperity.
