Every day at 8.00 pm there is a round of applause for health care staff. Every day, for a few minutes, the whole country celebrates the courage and solidarity of those who carry much of the weight of the fight against coronavirus on their shoulders.
At Derby Hotels Collection, we want to extend the echo of that applause with the “Derby Hotels with Heart” initiative. We invite all the group’s employees to share messages of hope and encouragement with patients and healthcare staff in the Barcelona and Madrid hospital network who are fighting COVID-19.
From Madrid, Barcelona, London and Paris, our employees and their families have shared around 80 messages, drawings and letters full of good wishes. Rainbows, superheroes fighting the virus, neighbours applauding from their balconies and dedications to healthcare staff fill hospital wards with joy.
“Please accept this small token of encouragement, recognition, respect and, above all, immense gratitude. When all this is over, we will continue to support you and remember the magnificent work you are doing,” say Carla, Alex, Jordi and Anna in one of the messages.
After delivering the results of this initiative to hospitals, we have received many messages of thanks. “It’s hard not to be moved when you enter IFEMA, and see the walls and aisles covered in messages of support and uplifting drawings,” say staff at a Madrid hospital.
At Derby Hotels Collection we want to do our bit to offer strength and support to those who work round the clock, risking their own lives for us. In the words of the Group’s Managing Director, Joaquim Clos, “all these messages reflect our best wishes and support for all the heroes on the front line in the fight against COVID-19. We are privileged to know you are there and hope everything goes well.”
