Once again, the Clos family brought together business leaders and representatives from the worlds of culture, economics and public institutions at their iconic La Terrassa del Claris. Attendees included Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni; Jordi Valls, 4th Deputy Mayor; Xavier Marcè, Councillor for Culture and Creative Industries; Josep Lluis Sanfeliu, President of Barcelona Global; Josep Santacreu, President of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, accompanied by Enric Jové; Mateu Hernández, Director General of Turisme de Barcelona; Arantxa Calvera, Director of the Catalan Tourist Board; and José Antonio Donaire, Commissioner for Sustainable Tourism Management, alongside other prominent figures from Barcelona’s business community, including hospitality entrepreneur Javier de las Muelas.

Guests enjoyed a cocktail-style dinner prepared by chef Pedro Salillas, as well as small bites from Os-kuro, the sushi bar and robata restaurant located on the ground floor of Hotel Claris. Authentic, locally sourced cuisine prepared without unnecessary embellishment defines La Terrassa del Claris as a key meeting place for Barcelona’s social scene. Located on the hotel’s seventh floor, the space is equipped for both winter and summer and was a pioneer in opening its doors to Barcelona residents. Today, it offers local gastronomy, creative cocktails and live music throughout the year, welcoming both locals and visitors.

The La Terrassa del Claris party has reached its 30th edition —the event has been held since 1994, with a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic— as Derby Hotels Collection concludes the summer with average occupancy rates of 81% in Barcelona and 70% in Madrid. The family-owned company has invested €6 million in refurbishing the rooms at its flagship property, Claris Hotel & Spa, and is approaching the final phase of the transformation of The Caesar Hotel in London’s Notting Hill neighbourhood.

The group expects to generate €90 million in revenue in 2026 and is strengthening its commitment to audited sustainability (anti-greenwashing) through the implementation of its environmental plan, supported by certifications and guided by its heritage-inspired motto, “IN Derby Hotels Collection WE TRUST”. The company manages a global portfolio of 20 hotel and tourist apartment properties, comprising a total of 1,131 accommodation units across Barcelona and its metropolitan area, Madrid and London.

According to Managing Director Joaquim Clos, Derby Hotels Collection continues to focus on its expansion across Europe, actively seeking growth opportunities in Portugal and Italy. Clos remains committed to this challenge while staying true to the group’s mission of revitalising historic and listed buildings.

Recognition of Jordi Clos’s achievements
The annual La Terrassa del Claris party also coincides with the election of Derby Hotels Collection founder and president, Jordi Clos i Llombart, as an honorary academician of the Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi. The distinction recognises his longstanding commitment to patronage, art collecting and the promotion of artistic knowledge, particularly his work in preserving and promoting heritage through the Museu Egipci de Barcelona. This cultural commitment is uniquely reflected in the identity of Derby Hotels Collection itself, whose properties feature art collections displayed in its nine permanent museum spaces, which are open to the public, while also showcasing buildings of significant heritage value.
